Lewy-Body Dementia Expert Adds to A Good Daughter, Inc. Eldercare Program

By: Thomas Cutler
According to Olga Brunner, founder of A Good Daughter, Inc.,
(www.agooddaughter.com), based in Margate, FL, has assembled a team of eldercare
experts that allow for a unique understanding what adult children are facing in
coping with their elderly parents declining health and well-being, particularly
those suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Carol Caughran, the firm's
counselor/therapist is a specialist in Lewy-Body form of dementia, currently
serves on the board of the National Association. Mary Lynne Beringer is
receiveing her CDP (Certification as a Dementia Professional) this month. Ms.
Brunner is receiving the federal and state license as Nursing Home Administrator
this month.

In September, Brunner begins guardianship training and will be
working with the local elder law attorneys. All three healthcare professional
have completed the required Alzheimer's Association training approved by the
Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

The organization goes into a home
and completes a needs assessment; next they put in the services needed so that
seniors can live at home independently versus entering a long term care
facility. But in the event that a family feels this type of placement is
warranted, A Good Daughter staff conducts facility visits and help families
select an appropriate placement for a parent or spouse."

Additional
services include going to doctor's appointments and monitoring medications and
supervising in-home help. Brunner suggested, "We are surrogate daughters doing
what sons and daughters would do for their parents if they were living in-town,
or had the time and free away from other professional and family obligations."

A Good Daughter based in Margate, Florida, was founded based on
Brunner's own experience. Brunner originally moved from California to Florida to
care for her aging mother with Alzheimer's disease.

Having been affected by the
daunting task of being a caregiver while employed, she became determined to
start a business which would help other caregivers navigate the troubled waters
of elder care. Brunner became a care manager who brings a personal awareness of
the needs of close or long distance caregivers and their loved ones.
